What happens inside a PDF to JPG converter, and which of its settings are worth changing.
A converter renders each PDF page to a bitmap at a chosen resolution, then saves that bitmap with JPEG compression. That is why the words stop being selectable: they become coloured pixels rather than text. Point a desktop converter at your file, choose Export → JPG, set the resolution, and it writes one image per page locally on your machine.

- Feed it the file, not a screenshot — give the converter the original PDF. Photographing or screen-grabbing pages first adds blur that no resolution setting can undo.
- Let it detect the page size — good converters read the PDF's own page dimensions. Override this only when you deliberately want square or fixed-size output.
- Tune resolution before quality — resolution has the larger effect on legibility. Raise it until small text is crisp, then use the quality setting to trim file size.
- Check a dense page, not a blank one — test the busiest page in the document. A page of plain text hides compression artefacts that a chart or photograph will expose.

Is a converter different from a PDF editor?
Usually not. Most desktop editors include an image export, so a separate converter program is rarely needed. Dedicated converters mainly add batch handling and folder-wide processing.
Why does the text look fuzzy?
The resolution was set too low for that page. Text is made of fine edges, and JPEG softens them, so dense or small print needs a noticeably higher resolution than a photograph does.
Can a converter keep the text searchable?
Not in a JPG, since the format stores pixels only. If searchable text matters, export from the PDF to a word-processing format instead, or run optical character recognition on the images afterwards.
